People of Faith Lutheran Church in Winter Garden, FL is looking for a motivated, energetic and Christ-centered leader with a heart for guiding and developing children and youth ministry initiatives.
Position Overview:
Reports to: Pastor / Church Council
Schedule: Part‑time, up to 12 hours per week (including Sunday mornings)
Location: On‑site every Sunday, plus hours worked remotely
Position Summary
The Youth & Children’s Ministry Coordinator supports the spiritual formation of children and youth by planning, organizing, and overseeing Sunday morning programs. This includes selecting or creating curriculum, coordinating volunteers, preparing weekly lessons and activities, and ensuring safe, nurturing environments for all age groups—including the nursery.
In addition to Sunday morning responsibilities, the coordinator will lead and grow weekday youth ministries, including the church’s gaming ministry, and identify new opportunities to engage children and teens in Christ‑centered community

Key Responsibilities.
- Curriculum Planning May include selecting, adapting, or creating age‑appropriate Christian education curriculum for multiple Sunday morning classes. Ensure curriculum aligns with core Lutheran theology and values.
- Volunteer Coordination Recruit, schedule, and support Sunday School volunteers.
- Sunday Morning Leadership Be present every Sunday to oversee classroom setup, support volunteers, and ensure smooth operation of all youth programs. Step in to assist or teach when needed.
- Nursery Oversight Provide safe, attentive care for infants and toddlers (ratio 3 to 1) when present. Assist with another class when no nursery‑aged children attend.
- Program Administration Maintain attendance records, supply inventory, and volunteer schedules. Communicate with families about upcoming lessons, events, or needs via Faith Flyer or other communication tools.
- Youth Ministry Development Assist, support, organize, and grow the church’s gaming ministry, ensuring it remains welcoming, safe, and Christ‑centered. Identify additional opportunities for youth engagement (e.g., mid‑week gatherings, service projects, small groups, seasonal events). Build relationships with youth and families to encourage participation and spiritual growth.
- Safety & Compliance Follow all church policies and state regulations regarding child protection, supervision ratios, and emergency procedures. Successfully complete a Level 2 background check with DCF.
Qualifications
- Christian faith background required; familiarity with Lutheran theology preferred.
- Experience in teaching, childcare, youth ministry, curriculum development, or similar fields.
- Ability to organize, plan ahead, and manage multiple age groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to lead volunteers indirectly with clarity and encouragement.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to being present every Sunday morning.
- Ability to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for children and families.
- Must pass a background check (Level 2 with DCF) and adhere to church safety policies.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with Sunday School curriculum or children’s ministry programs.
- Creativity in designing lessons, crafts, and activities.
- Comfortable working with infants through middle‑school‑aged youth.
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
- Familiarity with gaming‑based youth engagement or interest in learning how to use gaming as a ministry tool.
- Familiar with social media for youth.
